My recommendation is that you greatly increase you budget for the chair. You will be sitting in it for many hours to come. There is nothing worse than being uncomfortable in addition to being tired, stressed and pressured.

Ikea is still delivering but delayed

I second the recommendation. A good office chair is something you only buy once, maybe twice. Look for an office/give surplus store and see if you can find a good one there.

Frequently chairs are replaced in a group because some of them have issues, but sometimes you can find one like new or with minor damage. My son’s current chair had torn padding on the arms. A little tape and he had a $600 chair for using in his house.

$100 for an office chair? Not gonna get the job done.

Have any friends at architecture firms? Ask them if they can get any discounts.

Hear a lot of great things about Herman Miller and steelcase chairs

like

But they are equally expensive

Agree on chairs.

For a desk, try the "build your own" tabletop desks from IKEA. Plenty of space and cheap. I don't think they're open but they are doing delivery still, may be expensive depending on how far from IKEA you are.

You’re a management consultant? Are you sure you didn’t forget an extra 0

Wayfair has a lot of good options and usually free delivery. However you probably need to go above $100 for a decent office chair like everyone said.

I recommend Craigslist.

I got a herman Miller aeron for $250 off Craigslist, honestly don't like it that much, too big for me (size c), but lots of people do like them, and it looks great, got the shiny metal one. Lots of other fancy chairs on craigslist for low prices.

Just landed a full time gig, looking to get some furniture so I’m not working on my parents’ kitchen table during this remote period. Any recommendations for desks and chairs? I’m hoping to find something that’s easy to assemble and break down for when I need to move, and something that won’t cost an arm and a leg.

I know everyone has a different kind of setup that works for them. I currently have a laptop, drawing pad, second monitor, and a desk riser.

Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.

So here are my questions.

How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.

When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.

Thanks in advance!

Anyone in downtown bk or Williamsburg wants to join our board game group?

We are currently a group of 3, but one person is moving to west coast soon, which reduces our board game options and complexity!

We tend to hangout with limited groups of friends and meet up at least every other week. So ideally just want to find 1-2 more like-minded people to join us.

If you are interested, please leave a comment with what are your top 3 board games and a description of your personality :)

Hi all!
Would love some insight on how you went from an HR assistant/coordinator to an HR Generalist. I’ve been in the HR world for 8 years, and only in the last 2-3 have I really done real HR work. The first company I was at didn’t have a solid HR team so I don’t really count that. I feel like I’m ready to take on more responsibility and learn more. And of course make more money.

I have looked into getting SHRM certification. But should I go back to school and get my masters in Hr?
