If he’s into trains you can go to Travel Town train museum. The zoo is close by as well.
Travel town is a great and affordable option.
Santa Monica Pier and the swings on the beach, Santa Monica Place has Cayton Children’s Museum, Echo Park lake has swan boats you can paddle around in, the aquarium in Long Beach, California Science Center and the Natural History Museum, Venice Beach is fun to people watch at the skate park, play on playgrounds and sand on the walk between Venice and Santa Monica, bike the beach trail, hike in the mountains, Dave and Busters in culver area
Thank you so much for all those recs! Def have some options to look into.
Santa monica pier has a little amusement park, appropriate for his age
You’re welcome, its called the pacific pier
Thursday during the school year is an amazing time to go to Knott's Berry Farm. You'll feel like you have a whole amusement park to yourselves with so much incredible stuff to see (besides the rides). Universal Studios is closer of course and pretty magical for a 5 year old. Cheaper? Griffith Observatory, California Science Center (great IMAX), and even a hike at Temescal Canyon.
Awesome, thanks for the recs!
Color me mine (pottery painting) is really fun for all ages. Highly suggest
Take him to the exposition park near downtown LA, there’s also the space shuttle there + the natural history museum with dinosaurs
It will be back on view at a new museum in Exposition Park but it will be off view for a couple years while the new facility is built.
Where are coming from? If you are not from a beach town all these recs in Santa Monica are great. Even driving up PCH into Malibu is a great day trip. Lunch on the Malibu Pier or Paradise Cove is awesome.
Of course Disney is awesome but another 45 mins of driving.
