Oh definitely! I sometimes feel like I have a lot of wasted creative potential as a result of excelling on a corporate career path… but then I remember that having a creative job is NOT the same as pursuing a creative passion. I am lucky now to have plenty of money to pursue my actual passions as hobbies, though certainly not plenty of time.
ED1, yes to this. As someone who’s in a creative role, I regret that I don’t have any energy left after work to pursue a creative passion. I keep hoping to find something that doesn’t feel like work, but I haven’t hit it yet.
It's never too late to try something new. If you don't feel happy, then there's nothing wrong with going into another career field. Marketing has it's pro and cons. I think as a consultant I get to dabble in a bit of everything.
I feel like I sort of fell into my PM role. I love what I do, I just don't think I was ready. It could be my imposter syndrome, because after a couple months I was doing great.
Think of your experience as a springboard. You've acquired valuable skills, forged strategic connections and learned to navigate the corporate jungle like a seasoned leopard in a power suit. Now it's time to leverage those assets and explore uncharted territories.
I can relate to this as well. I really had no intentions of moving up into management and never thought I would be in the role i am now. I guess I got lucky though because I do feel like I climbed up the right ladder and am very happy with my success.
