Do meal prep, track your calories, exercise and stop being a lazy pig 🐷
Try intermittent fasting. I think it's easier to not snack if you aren't eating anything at all.

Thanks! I tried IF a while back but even with a 11-5 non-fasting window, I still felt like I was snacking too much in afternoon. Maybe I’ll try IF again and incorporate more water like somebody said below, and split lunch into 2 smaller meals like somebody said above.
If you like snacking, plan for healthier/"better" snacks. If you'd have a sandwich with apple slices for lunch, make the apple slices a 2pm slump snack instead. Changing up timing, not total.
Drink a lot of water. Do multiple small, pre-portioned meals instead of larger ones.

I just schedule calls back to back from 8 AM to 7 PM so I never have time to go any further than the bathroom.
I started noom last year but one of the main things it did for me was logging all my snacks and meals. If you log it/ calorie count, it can become So Obvious where it's excess and not needed. Was very clear to me after a few weeks that there was no reason to eat a bag of Cheez-its every afternoon.... (Not that there's anything wrong w that, that's just where my extra calories were). Good luck !

Yep - cheez its is one of mine too. Now to train myself to drink a glass of water instead. Thanks!

Make it hard to snack. Exploit laziness
Can you make sure the snacks in the house are healthy, even for the kids? My kids have a few packaged options like Hippeas but mostly they just have raisins, nuts seeds fruit etc.
I get it! My kids are 6, 4, and 1, so I get it for sure. We are mostly plant based so we have to make some snacks ourselves, or at least assemble (like trail mix) to keep it healthier. My husband does a lot of it and it is definitely more trouble. But there are things you can buy too that have good "macros" (high protein or healthy fat, high fiber, low in added sugar). We don't buy very much that's pure "yummy" or my husband especially would eat it all!!
Drink water and chew flavorful sugar free gum. The gum gives you the taste of something while keeping your mouth busy and the water keeps you feeling full.
+1 on chewing gum. Helps me get my mind off the urge to snack
I find that a lot of time when I’m snacking I’m more bored than hungry. So rather than taking a snack break listen to a podcast for 10 minutes or play a short video game between calls instead of walking to the kitchen. If I still want a snack, I’ll chug a glass of water to see if that satisfies me or I’m actually hungry.
Low carb diet because carbs make you hungry in my experience. Low carb/keto makes the hunger go away. Herbal tea with stevia for a sweet treat.
Buy baby carrots and celery. Snack on these
Pro
Snack on watermelon 🍉 it’s mostly, well, water 💧
I second the water suggestions! If you can, get a large refillable water bottle or jug that way you’re not having to walk back and forth to the kitchen for more water. I tried it and now my mindless munching has turned into mindless sipping 😅

Take a walk outside instead of hanging in the kitchens

I do walk outside every day. Maybe I could change my walking time to better coincide with snacking time.
Hunger pangs go away after about 30 mins. Drink water and try to tough it out.

Interesting. Will give that a try.
Try incorporating intermediate fasting; this way, you skip breakfast entirely and at least get through the first 4-5 hours of your work day not eating anything. Have lunch and only one snack before getting off. I also recommend keeping a gallon of water nearby you can drink even in the morning while you are still fasting to keep you full. At first, all this won't be easy, but your body will adjust, trust me - you’re going to have to be discipline! I do this and make it to the gym by evening for heavy lifting and/or boxing/sparring, so if I can do it, so can you!

Lots of coffee helps, but probably isn’t very healthy.

Drink more water? Whenever I get snack-ie I will drink a bottle of water first and see if that cures it.

Eat high fiber and high protein meals and drink lots of water in between. If a snack is necessary, set it aside on your desk. A banana, hard boiled egg, or small portion of trail mix, for example.
Chief
All good ideas, thanks. I definitely don’t drink a lot of water so that will be my goal. Adding hard boiled eggs and trail mix to my mental list of acceptable snacks (and trail mix to the grocery list).
