we’re in LA but in the same boat and went with a nanny because our daughter had special needs when I went back to work. I do wish she had gone to daycare because I think it’s vital for socialization. A nanny has been a life saver in more ways than one though. she helps keep the house in order in addition to the needs of our child. And the little time saved packing lunches etc everyday does add up in a beneficial way. If you guys have more humane hours than I do (I leave most nights at 8pm) then daycare is totally great. with preschool starting at three it’s really only 2 years, you don’t want to have to pay for both a nanny and preschool like we’ve ended up having to do. sending you lots of positivity to get through this decision though!
Nanny. For sure. That’s what I did though wasn’t in advertising at the time. The child stays in the comfort of their home. The nanny does errands for you and flexes to stay late when you need it. Also if you can swing an extra room think au pair. Research it It’s genius.
We are looking into a nanny share... then our little boy can stay in his own home (some of the time) as well as being social with another child. Plus less expensive !
I prefer daycare both because “friends!” and also for cost - but if you and your partner work unusual hours, nanny is a great option.
Thanks everyone. All really helpful!
