MS Taxation, MS Accounting, MBA, JD, BS#2, CFP?

What would be the most beneficial credential outside of the BS in accounting and a CPA for an early career or entry level associate?

How much does University/School weigh on career outcomes?

Depends on your field.

Tax: CPA/MTax/JD
Audit: CPA
Finance: CPA/MBA
IT Audit: CPA/CISA/CISSP
Internal Audit: CPA/CIA

IMO, School has little to no impact outside of landing your first job out of school.

MBA isn’t an entry level career move— generally good to advance your career within a company (ie they sponsor it), or used to pivot your career (school pedigree matters more in this scenario).

For school I agree, but I would add that you should look who recruits from the school before picking. If you want B4 you need to go to a feeder school that B4 focuses on. They recruit from many public universities so no need to pay private school tuition if you don’t need it. If you want one of the big consulting firms though you’ll need to go to a top MBA program and likely shell out more cash.

Most of those do very different things. What do you want to do that will guide your path.

Big law specialist with an offer to be the CFO and GC of a 250M AUM hedge fund. All in comp would probably be ~$300k, so about $100k less than where I would be in big law (including bonus). Potential to get involved in the business side, but most likely more of a back office role (I would also be the only legal hire - main goal would be cutting outside legal cost and streamlining processes). Does this sound like an attractive offer? What exit options would I have?

Hi everyone. I'm pretty early in my career (just over 1 YOE) & not really enjoying my current role as a Consultant/Developer because of the type of projects I get combined with some mobility issues. However, I'm really interested in technical program management or project management and I'm looking for any advice on how to get there bc I've been applying, but can't even seem to get a call back.
