Adding value on a Teams call after 5

Did anyone else 'fishbowl' cars in high school?
Is HARMAN really recruiting for permanent remote roles? Would they ask us to come to office after sometime? I am a bachelor woman supporting my sickly parents and can't move them out of city. And my city don't have harman office. HR did mention permanent remote, still want to confirm as I've heard many cases people were called back across different product based companies. I would still go in if I could. First day is usually easy. Upto you though.
It's a matter of severity. No one wants you driveling snot and sneezing on them or vomiting in the office. Maybe at least take a COVID test first.
It's certainly not ideal but you're going to be trusted to make harder decisions than this. It's more about how you handle it than which decision you make.
Do not go into an office if you are sick. Give yourself a break.
Stay home. Not good showing up sick
Rising Star
You should show up in the best state possible. Let people know you are feeling under the weather. Start meds soon.
Bruh no body wants you at work if you’re sick trust me just tell them you’re sick it’s not a bad look you get sick days as part of your package
How do you know how you’re going to feel tomorrow right now? Evaluate in morning because if you call out now you look like you’ve got something else in the works.
I would acknowledge the poor timing and make sure you sound very sick over the phone lol.. but if you’re sick it is what it is and nobody wants your germs.
Call one of your VPs and tell them that you are actually sick. Don’t write it in an email just call like a person who is sick and tell them you’re sick. Otherwise it’ll look like you’re still interviewing
Exactly. The call vs email is important.
That is tough, could easily be a bad look either way. Do agree that usually the first day will be the easiest day you will ever have at a company, but you know yourself better then anyone and only you can really feel out what is best to do. There will always be somebody saying the opposite anyways.
This happened to me 10 yrs ago starting my last job. I was living dead all weekend leading up to day 1 on Monday. I slogged through it and regret doing so. Pretty sure I got a coworker sick who developed bronchitis.
It also depends on the company. Some would be more understanding than others.
Who cares what it looks like we are all human and we get sick , you should definitely stay home. If I would be an employer I would rather you would not spread viruses and make other people sick vs start a little later . Plus your health is much more important.
Pro
Bottom bucket for sure
Turning up and coughing on everyone would be worse.
If you can dose up on advil and no one will know, then go in.
If you have huge symptoms, then stay home
i would drag myself in, 1st impressions
Push through it...Dayquil and maybe 5 hour energy. The job market is so stringent right now...I wouldnt jeopardize making that first impression by not being available on your first day of work. People will judge you immediately and often, so I guess it's up to you on what the job means to you.
Go in, let them know you are under the weather and can they spare an empty office all while wearing a mask!
