Don’t run them ragged - pick an area and do an activity or two and have a great lunch/dinner spot booked.
Ideas include: South bank and Tate modern; Greenwich observatory and lunch at the river ( the trafalgar is an option, lots more); national gallery at Charing Cross, a show, and dinner in soho; river cruise from wherever and London eye; etc
Build in a tea / coffee / lunch / picnic stop for every place you go. Basically have a 30 minute break built in for every hour you’ll be out. Or build an itinerary around food/sitting. Wallace collection + tea/lunch at the restaurant on site, Kensington gardens picnic or brunch nearby, City of London Sky Garden + lunch at the eestaurant there, City of London + scone and tea at the Fortnum at the Royal Exchange etc.
Wandering around Hampstead village and then Hampstead Heath is something it took me a while to realise is excellent tourist activity for foreign parents. Also +1 on the Greenwich suggestion. And Kew Gardens are nice. Theatre is about a 1/3rd the price of New York. Afternoon tea is delightfully British. I like the ‘walk for 90 mins, lunch, Uber home’. Basically ever post code has good food, so layer that on a tourist activity they’d enjoy (walking Hyde park north-south, or St James - horse guards - Buckingham palace) then choose a restaurant, cute pub. You’ll have a great time. May is good for it.
Get passes for the hop on hop off buses. Chose a few things to get off and explore depending on your interest. Tbh you just need to google some options…. There’s no shortage of things to see, do and experience
