Newer hiring manager here. My finalist gave us their range at the beginning of the interview process that was a bit above our budget for the position but in the ballpark. In our initial offer, we met them at the very top of their range and I got HR/finance approval to stretch. They have countered with a higher ask in salary despite being aware of this info. I can’t help but have a bad taste in my mouth and my leadership is not pleased. Would you stick to the initial offer or rescind altogether?

So about 8 mos into my 1st year I accepted a PE/VC role that starts in Nov. I was pretty unhappy and felt like IB wasn’t for me. Few months after that I feel like I’ve settled into the role more, bonded with my team and just happier overall. I still dread working every weekend & over holidays but I feel more confident about my work. We had reviews and turns out I’m top bucket/highest ranked analyst in my class (NYC EB) and now I feel guilty about leaving. Anyone have thoughts here?

What do you do when you absolutely love the work you do and the content you're making but you are just completely done with an incredibly difficult and unnecessarily demanding team. I discovered I was gifted about two years ago. It made me realize that the reason why I was ‘weird’ was because I was different.
