This may work for a college student. I would post jobs at care.com and sitter city. Best of luck to you! I had a very hard time finding childcare earlier this year.
Go to your local park with a playground and ask all the other nannies/sitters if they know anyone.
Thanks. I tried that but have only been referred to sitters who wanted more hours so far…I do agree I’d much rather prefer a wom rec over a sitter website.
We used nanny lane. But I only interviewed nannies who were looking for full time because that’s what we needed. Am sure you can post a listing there with your part time hours and see who reaches out.
Never heard of that one, thanks!
Honestly I found the best nanny in the world on Craigslist. She was with us for years I cried when she left she went on to be an occupational therapist. We used her in the afternoons we shared her with another family.

You are smart to avoid the ones that are looking for full time. They will just quit on you when then find it. Unless they can find two part time gigs. Urban Sitter could be another place to try.
OP - I felt extremely desperate after seeing no responses from promising candidates a few months in a row. Matching expectations between me and the nannies was tough. In a last hope attempt, I posted several different job descriptions chunking out the job and writing out the descriptions in different ways. This lead to finding my care provider who is wonderful.
Do you belong to your neighborhood Facebook moms/parents group? I’ve found that and care.com as suggested above have been my go to resources for sourcing childcare in the city.
Thanks, continuing to try this route! I do belong to my local FB moms page. I’m going to ask there.
Hey- do you live near any of the colleges in the city? I got tons of applications by posting a job for part time weekday sitting by finding out and posting about it on a student job board for the university closest to us in the city. Good luck!
