Would you rather have an 8.5% income tax?
Remote work in Washington establish residency, live in 2nd home in Oregon. Go back and forth. It’s legal, little taxes. I can’t be the first to think of it.
I bought a river cabin in Washington. I had a big house in Beaverton Oregon. I then established residency by paying property taxes in Washington. Then I went into consulting and travelled. I setup my cabin as my primary residence, so no income taxes. When I was in Oregon I didn’t pay sales tax. When I travelled the company paid all expenses. Then on top of that I would use my Oregon ID to not pay taxes on large purchases in Washington, but they closed that loophole. The tax savings paid for that cabin. I followed the law for residency, time in both states. I played the game exactly as its setup.
