One thing I've noticed is that inbound sales leadership is often underestimated. There's a perception that if the leads are coming to you, the job is somehow easier. In reality building and leading a high performing inbound team takes strong coaching, smart processes, and consistent execution. For those who've made the jump into Director or VP roles, how did you overcome the bias that outbound experience is more valuable?

Sales isn't easy, but landing revenue is far easier for in bound reps than true hunters, and that's what fetches a premium.

The transition took a while on my part but I was happy as I was over inside sales.

I overcome bias by showing immediate positive sales result from eliminating any and all negative self-dialogue that kills any hope of making the sale. Total confidence improves brain chemistry as well as the electromagnetic field your nervous system projects that makes the customer like and trust you which results in them closing the sale.

I believe improving one’s sales conversion rate is something everyone want to improve but no one wants to admit they would like to work it. Funny how lawyers will spend thousands on seminars to improve trial skills. But this topic is not discussed in our profession. I have read books in sales. But am unable to find any for lawyers. At the biotech company I work at avg inside sales is $62,632 with a $3500 per quarter cap. Commission structure is % based on sales quota reached vs capped (not a direct % of sales). I’m underpaid at $53000 with $3500 cap per quarter.
