Sounds like you need to get out too. If after the second person this leader didn’t try to address or personally change, it’s not going to get better soon. Fool me once, but fool me four times?
Set yourself as “Available to work” on LinkedIn (it won’t change your profile or show up to your coworkers). Recruiters will reach out. Start interviewing. Life is too short and your career is in your hands. There’s way too many opportunities out there in design to put up with a toxic environment.
It sounds like leaving is the healthiest choice, mental-wellbeing-wise, since 4 of your coworkers came to that conclusion within a year.
However, the employment market really sucks, so I understand that may not be feasible right now, and you might need a short-term solution. To give you proper advise, it would be helpful to understand in what way they are awful, since there are different approaches for different types of toxic.
Are they micromanaging? Are they setting expectation only to then switch it up? Are they overworking you? What’s going on specifically?
