Hello people, how common is a Amazon to PWC move ?
I’m interviewing for a Senior Associate role and TC seems to be more competitive than role in L5.
TC $114k- Base AMZ- $73k +$38kstocks ( vesting 17k$ due next year)
TC $135k Base PWC -$81$ + Bonuses ( 50k$)
Looking for managerial skills which the PWC role avails, and L6 promo doesn’t seem to be happening soon in current role. I’m also mentally stretched. I hear WLB in PWC is just as busy but can anyone confirm if this move makes any sense. Google Amazon

I call BS on the 7k reduction. That means your manager salary first year is 140k. Seriously doubt even NYC is that much.
Having said that, this really sucks for the seniors that have been expecting this for a few years now. I'm getting mine in a month and it honestly made a huge difference in me staying this long. Don't know if 5% would have changed my mind, but it may have.
Not gonna find too much sympathy for getting "only 20%" when other firms don't even give a milestone bonus.
I'm surprised they didn't say it was "in response to our feedback" like the other recent cutbacks
I love how they always make these changes and hide them in 3 different links
All firms are sucking right now. Rolls down hill.
Do people realize how frugal big 4s are with bonuses? They give you these BS "incentives to stay" like a senior/manager bonus. Until you know otherwise, you think it's pretty lucrative deal and think that if you don't stay to earn it you're "leaving money on the table". But, If you find the right industry fit, you can get a 25% bonus EVERY YEAR if you're a 3-4, even more (35-40%) if you're a 5 - with immediate vesting. I couldn't believe how much more $ there was to be made for far less hours in private. My public service announcement for all of you with 3-4 years of experience at big 4 still getting bent over by multiple busy seasons a year.
20% it's still amazing. I get that it's a 20% reduction. But it's by far the gold standard in manager bonus in public accounting. It sucks if you thought you were getting 25% but I don't have a ton of sympathy for a 20% bonus
It's never communicated well. EY puts these things in footnote type comments at the bottom of long email updates so no one sees it. It doesn't make it right, but you can't expect anything different. Sure it sucks, I'm not questioning it. Just trying show an upside because people in the industry seem to seek out the suck.
I understand that some people will perceive my post to be selfish given that other firms don't give a milestone award. The issue is that, to illustrate, the only reason I have stayed at the firm for the last year is due to this pending bonus. It's a ton of money to leave on the table. so to sneak in a link in pwc news about a reduction to the bonus is BS. also, someone called BS on the reduction. I have an advanced degree in NYO and have been rated Tier 1 for last 5 years. So yes, pending my salary increase from senior to manager, it is approximately a $7k reduction.
Making a career decision to stay at a job over 7k (Ng implying that had you known it was 20% vs 25% you might have quit) is a pretty small amount of money... if you're making 140k, why are you making such a big decision over where to work over 7k!?
Separate the fact that 20% is still great... you have to recognize that the way it was rolled out (four months before expecting seniors are promoted to manager) and the manner it was communicated...
Don't forget that this isn't a replacement for your annual bonus, it's in addition to. New managers still get their annual bonus + the 20% manager bonus.
Don't you have to stay for the first full year of manager as well?
^Yes, it's a retention bonus. It gets paid out after busy season.
Think what you want. No use arguing. As i said, advanced degree, NY market, Tier 1. Do the math.
^ tax accountant 1 where did you escape to? Need to follow in your footsteps
Is this a milestone from senior to manager bonus? If so, OP is full of shit. No way in hell you're making 140k no matter what market!
140k is possible for a specialized service line. No way that audit touches $140K for new manager, but a highly specialized service line in NY market isn't out of the question.
It's not our of line for Chicago or LA as well for specialized lines
