pwc foreign Global Mobility offices (IAS) have apparently been asked to confirm if they will remain with pwc or be part of a sale of the GLOBAL MOBILITY practice (presumably the US one). Seems odd, to say the least. I feel for my fellow IAS colleagues (I’m sure the partners past and present may get a sweet bonus / retention payment … others 🤔??).

For people who have profit sharing what have your experiences been? Ours is every March but it is a variable number based on how we do the prior year (duh obviously) but also only my boss gets to decide and he gives no criteria on why he chooses what he does. Don’t get me wrong I am super thankful to be in a location with great PS opportunity and upside but it is so hard to plan my life out not knowing what my income will be that year. What are your thoughts on pay discrepancies based on family structure? Ex. Two people do the same job but one is paid more or given a larger bonus “because they have kids and you live alone” or “because their family is struggling”. Is that an ethical factor if both employees do the same job at the same pace, quality, etc?

Interview tomorrow for a tax associate opening at RSM. Been working in a mid-size city (different firm) that is about 70 minutes from this new home office in a larger metro. Earned my CPA about a year ago. Am I wrong in thinking it might have been a waste of time? I don’t intend on staying in accounting after this year.

I know they say you burn bridges if you leave during a busy time, but how should that really sway my decision to leave? I want to change industries and move to another city. I’m looking for jobs but am worried it’ll take until late fall/winter to lock something down and my group is already busy at that time.

My utilization is 90% but all of my clients are small jobs. Does that look worse than someone who works on the larger, higher revenue generating jobs with all else equal (utilization/performance)?

A manager I work with is my official mentor at the firm. They expected me to do something for them in busy season when I was booked on another client, but when I try to get time to talk to them about my reviews or performance, they seem to just ignore my invites or reschedule constantly and last minute.
