I feel like that would just result in a bunch of people ruining their credit without achieving anything. The government was able to freeze payments for 3.5 years with no issues (on their end).
Yeah I think it’s just going to hurt them in the long run.
I fell like is happening … fewer people are going to college enrollments are down which means less student loans. Its a 2 part issue. The loans take advantage of immature people taking loans on a bad product that is oversold by school or admissions. If you didn’t graduate you either made poor personal choices and is noone to fault but you, or you were told you were capable of more than you are. Rare circumstances other things factor in like illness or death that require dropping out, but if you are dedicated you make it happen just on a different schedule. If you did graduate and can’t afford your loan payments you were over sold on a bad product, if your degree doesn’t earn enough to pay back the cost of getting said degree you were sold a shit product by the school and should frankly sue them vs holding the loan provider accountable. If you over borrowed for living expenses and traveling rather than having a part time job while in college to pay your rent, remember choices have consequences and you are experiencing those now.
