Totally possible. Aim for 1,800 hours and no one will fire you just because of one year.
Say no to all new work after you think you’re on enough to net you a 140-160 month, take at least 4 weeks off during the year with a long weekend every month. Sign off after 8 pm and no weekend emailing unless closing/filing. You have to stick to your guns with these boundaries though

I’ve been doing this for three years. Aim for just good enough and you’d be surprised how far you can go.

Nothing really. Instead of stellar reviews, I’m now usually average or slightly above average. Last year they told me I’d have to try harder if I wanted to make partner and mentioned that one partner said it was hard to gauge my availability. I said something like “understood and thank you for the feedback.” In my evaluation for this year I mentioned that one of my goals was learning to keep pushing through while feeling burned out. I don’t think it’s a big secret that I’m burned out and not trying all that hard anymore.
I am guessing I keep getting away with it because the work I do is high quality, I don’t miss real deadlines that actually have consequences, and the clients like me. I lead matters and keep costs down by delegating, which clients really like. I’m also the only senior woman in a practice group of mostly men (we legit only have one female partner). With so many clients demanding diverse staffing, they kind of need me. Add in a couple of very large long-running matters that I run and the job security is pretty solid right now.
Long term, I’ll either go to a more senior in-house position or negotiate a remote, part-time gig. We have a couple counsel in that type of role already so there’s a decent chance that happens. I plan to to raise that while talking about maternity leaving planning so fingers crossed!

It is definitely possible. You can definitely ride for a number of months on your reputation. Don’t be egregious about it, of course.
Does your firm have min hours for bonus? Mine does at 2k, damnit!

Pro bono is an awesome way to rack up hours and hate yourself less. I’m big into weekend clinics that are usually pretty chill.
Current 4th year, this sounds pretty damn appealing for my upcoming 5th year.
