Definitely contributes ... but also if you’re WFH your general exposure to other people is just significantly lower...
This! I haven't been sick since I was traveling in February. The masks help, but in general, me in the supermarket once a week in a mask, washing hands before I touch anything at home, is the real game changer 😅
I was traveling through Asia last fall and was intrigued how most people would take out and wear a mask in crowded and confined situations (e.g. subways, airports, elevators) and then take them off once they are out.
Looking back, this is pretty darn smart.
Like others, I plan on always wearing a mask when flying/traveling/riding the subway. Hopefully we stigmatize masks less.
If you can’t lump China like that how about lost Asian countries like you just did?
Same here. No seasonal allergies or cold since wearing masks outside.
This is the most American post I’ve seen in a while
🤔
Agreed. I usually get bad allergy cold early fall each year . I am wearing mark since March and no cold or allergy symptoms. Loving it
Uhhh maybe because it’s only early November? Plus this has been an exceptionally warm autumn
Or the massive social distancing is impacting the flu too. Not wearing a mask once this is over thank you.
I haven’t had a cold in years and only had a flu 2 times in my life yet never worn a mask (or had a flu shot for that matter). (Same is true for my whole family). It’s a lot more about a different lifestyle and being mindful of what you eat / drink, managing your stress levels and spending time in the nature than anything else.
Do you normally get a bunch of colds? Is being not sick something new and different?
Nope.
I wish we could normalize wearing masks after the pandemic in crowded situations but the anti-mask morons already don’t wear them during the middle of a real pandemic soo that’s probably not happening.
Probably gonna keep up the masks after the pandemic. Let’s just all do the same who like it
N95 masks have 100% helped with allergies
Attendance for this year at our kids school is the highest in their history because people aren't getting sick like they normally do. And they have even been in person since the school year started.
I think masks are one component and another is constant washing of hands and just being conscious of the things you touch and the places you go.
Rising Star
Masks+hygiene+social distance most certainly will keep you from getting ill. Even post COVID, the world should rethink safety as well as capacity limitations where feasible
How sure are we that masks are all that effective? Aren't viruses smaller and able to pass through a standard mask (not N95)? I have heard several doctors discuss this. I wear a mask but tend to think it is social distancing and restriction policies that are reducing sickness that you are all reporting.
Probably also bc you wash your hands more frequently and you may be more mindful of touching your face.
But what will this period do to our immune system long term? In particular those who's immune system are developing in these years (babies, children)
you’ve all been sitting in your house for 9 months
