Definitely contributes ... but also if you’re WFH your general exposure to other people is just significantly lower...
This! I haven't been sick since I was traveling in February. The masks help, but in general, me in the supermarket once a week in a mask, washing hands before I touch anything at home, is the real game changer 😅
I was traveling through Asia last fall and was intrigued how most people would take out and wear a mask in crowded and confined situations (e.g. subways, airports, elevators) and then take them off once they are out.
Looking back, this is pretty darn smart.
Like others, I plan on always wearing a mask when flying/traveling/riding the subway. Hopefully we stigmatize masks less.
If you can’t lump China like that how about lost Asian countries like you just did?
Asian here. Reasons to wear a mask in my home country:
- you’re sick
- you don’t want to get sick
- dry air (planes, etc)
- air pollution
- you look tired but can’t be bothered to wear makeup
- just because
The first few days when COVID started I was too nervous to wear a mask because I got nasty looks and was worried about racist attacks. I’m glad that it’s normalised now. Gotta say I’ve missed it.

So true - I get sick easily but haven’t gotten sick once this year
Same! Usually my husband gets sick first and gives it to me, but he’s only been sick once and we quarantined him until he got a negative COVID test. Knock on wood I haven’t been sick at all in 2020 (yet)!

Wait wait wait, are you telling me masks can prevent me from ingesting things that cause disease?
A physician friend of mine said he’s had zero flu patients too.
And probably because any flu case is just called covid at this point
Pretty sure I’ll never fly without one again

Americans used to laugh at Asians wearing face masks pre-Covid. Sadly it is us the Americans who are the world’s laughing stock!
I mean, it's also just fewer people you come into contact with overall, as well as other changes in behavioral / hygiene practices as a result of COVID.
But yeah, it shows how much simple steps can reduce transmission risk.
The whole debate about masks is a white people problem you USians have exported to the rest of the western world.

He’s not wrong
I think it us common sense thst masks help. Its amazing how people fight this dnd how che a p thry are. Furnaces and air handlers all have filters. If you don't, they break. An added bonus is most people look better with masks on
Masks definitely help along with social distancing and good hygiene and wfh. Most of us are not in the office or using public transportation where most of the viruses/ flu/ germs spread. Since March I have been WFH and have not been sick. I have seen way too many unhygienic people in the office and on public transportation and I believe this pandemic has brought awareness to many people and hope they continue being hygienic. I believe we will have a covid type outbreak every 8-10 years as people will relax and another virus will spread
Yup masks have kept me from ingeneral cold and all. I hope it is normalized in the US.
I appreciate your aspirations, but I don’t see this becoming the norm. Could use more change management.

I was since once last year and before that wasn’t sick for three years.

It's not the masks it's the social distancing and working from home lol
We stan for mask fans 👌
I am really worried about America ! There are two sides of everything: face mask vs anti. Ppl who have common sense vs who don’t . Some trusts a stupid leader vs their doctors when health related issues are concerned . Why everyone can’t think and decide what’s good for them and society overall ? 🤣😂🤣😂
Me too, the amount of STDs I've gotten have been lower due to wearing a mask!
You've been isolated since the beginning of the year and you think a cloth mask is keeping you from getting ill?
100%. As far as isolated goes, nah. Family and I get out our fair share. Vacationed. Shopping. Occasional bar/restaurant outing (indoor and outdoor).
Used to get sinus infections all the time even if I was 50/50 wfh. Sick every other month. Every year it’s been the same. Not one since mask szn.
It’s the ducking mask and hand sani
