Happy 4/20 except for federal practice folk lmao

Sunday hot take, I think Blonde was great.
You could go to one of them and ask for more money, especially firm 1 since they already know you. Their response should help make the decision.
We just started a first year attorney at 70k (all in with benefits (exclusive of a bonus) about 85k). We asked around and heard anywhere from 30k base then eat what you kill to 110k for firms around our size (the higher numbers from slightly larger and more established firms). We also posted for a legal assistant job and about 1/3 of the applicants were new law school grads, which puts into perspective how easy it is to end up without anything at the end. We'd pay an experienced paralegal more than 70k, but they're worth a lot more, especially in the first few years.
Both are paying peanuts but firm 2 seems like the move
Firm 2. 300 more hours is a LOT more hours.

Def firm 2 out of these but I wouldn’t go with either tbh. I didn’t go to law school to make as much as people out of their undergrad.
A2. Where do u work with first years getting that
Firm 2 seems like the obvious choice. But overall both are very low. Where are you?
Second year for 80k? Negotiate for 100 min or keep looking

Those “old school” partners are going to bankrupt the firm when they retire. They are either going to want to continue getting a draw for the clients they brought in or want an incredibly high payout. Firm 2 is the right answer.
Firm 2. Stop being sentimental.
To add, i worked at the well-known firm as a legal assistant before law school and then as a law clerk during law school and only left due to the pandemic and bc I wanted to see what else there was.
Bonus structure at firm 2
I am going on my second year as a practicing attorney and I live in Florida
What type of work at each?
I’m now in house, but I practiced T&E for 10 years. 1800 hours is very difficult in the field because so much of what you do is small pieces of time, not big blocks like litigation. Given all the other factors, 1500 hours is far more preferable if you’re interested in work-life balance.
50% benefits sucks. If they pay 100% and it is the choice.
Newer firm, don’t look back. You do not want an old school firm, at all.
Firm 2 is the obvious choice unless you got bad vibes

$80k is peanuts. Negotiate hard.
50% health insurance is a huge difference esp if you’re someone who goes to the doc a lot
Woah both so low..
Firm 2
These are jobs that require a JD...?
Firm 2, no contest…. what would you tell your client?
