Hi Fishes
I would like to know about the client interviews (especially in data science or machine learning roles).
Are these interviews tough?
Are these interviews meant to assess technical knowledge? For example, what is binomial distribution, what are different data structures in python, ml algorithms etc.
I would request each of the nagarrians to share their thoughts irrespective of the technologies you are working.
I am thankful to you for taking time and helping me out.

Well why did you make the choice to interview in the first place? Only for comp? Or because you wanted a new adventure? A 40% pay bump sounds great and that is really significant. I'd say if you were to have left if the title was slightly higher, then I'd still leave. Even with the title bump, if you're saying you would maybe not have gone... it's tough.

Microsoft is going to buy the NA operations and the deal is expected to close by 9/15 so take that into consideration. I would take it if you are interested and make the move to Austin if you want to do that.
If things don’t work out, but you like Austin, there are a ton of places to work there. Amazon has a lot of tech teams there too.
Just to confirm, you're L4 now, and total comp Austin offer is 275k?
Yes, great deal
I’d go if you could verify that you’ll work for the NA team. As with a Google, mobility is easier once you’re already inside.
I had a similar offer to lead a small PM team. I declined it because I was worried about working 996. With the spinoff, my concern is [probably] no longer there and I left a lot of money on the table.
It would be for the NA team. I interviewed because I like the product and want to get experience scaling new teams/BU, and TikTok seems like a great product that I immediately understand how I can help them.
My concerns are:
Why are they saying I’m too young to do Large customer partnerships? I’m doing that now as L4 at Google and doing well.
The team I was interviewing for is in Austin, FYI. I live in SF and wouldn’t mind a move, as I love austin, but it feels like I should really think about the decision’s impact to my LT career.
If the 40% bump isn’t cost of living adjusted, it’s actually more like a 65% bump. Can you post the offer?
I would but don’t want to out myself. The cash comp is north of $275k. Equity isn’t real yet, so I don’t count it.
Scaling a growing company sounds like fun. Plus you can always find another job if the acquisition goes south. You only live once - go for it!
Go for it and bring me with! I’m ready for a change!! Lol
