No, you are the only person in the business of you. Do what's best for your growth and personal life
Put it this way: if they had to save a buck (due to account loss or holding company CFO-ness or both) or even give more “important” people Holiday bonuses, they’d fire you in a nanosecond. So look out for yourself. Period. This business is not cuddly family time. It’s that...a business.
It's never ideal to leave somewhere within 6 months, but it happens! A few of my colleagues have done it and they have no regrets - I would just be sure it's the move (the grass isn't always greener) and go with your gut. It primarily becomes an issue/red flag when you have short stints at numerous agencies but not one.
You’re already considering it so now you’re seeking validation. Without knowing your situation I would say do it. Do it! Do it!
I left a job after 8 weeks once. Was vendor side, not agency. Was not a good fit. They knew it and I esp knew it. Particularly since the President I reported to was outwardly bigoted. It felt great and I know he was pissed to go through the selection process to burn money on pay and do it over again. Action is the strongest message you can send. High turnover makes companies realize they need to change something. Its nothing until you have a new offer in hand anyway. Then you must choose. You do you! You are the CEO of your life, call the shot!
If better salary...
I already noticed a lot of people aren't happy here and leaving. The account at the new agency is much better and would give me better experience.
it’s not bad but you def can’t use your current shop on your resume.
There was a previous thread on everyone’s shortest stint at an agency. You wouldn’t be the first.
If leaving is a no brainer, stop thinking about it and do it. You don’t owe your current shop anything. Do what’s right for you.
Everyone makes a bad hop at some point. Just don’t make it a habit
@Saatchi & Saatchi 1, I feel like I could, explain my wins and explain the gap if needed in the future.
@AE2 I think anything under 6 months, but hiring managers aren't going to hold it against them - esp considering that they're actively recruiting OP. People move jobs in 6 months or shorter all the time - it's only a concern when it's an reoccurring trend.
@SAE 1 how short is too short?
I went from working telecomm at an agency for 10 month and hating life to moving to another agency and getting a 2017 Grand Prix in less than a year (but also, hating life). Do it. Don’t wait. Move
I have several shorter stints on my resume. Always go where you can be happy/successful. This can mean a better client, work, title, perks, location, salary, etc — or combination of the above.
Just do it
