So the Promo Board just approved my promo to Associate Partner. It will be effective as of Jan 2. Do you think that recruiters and hiring mgrs will find it sketchy if I applied for new jobs in Jan?

Why would it be sketchy? People move all the time. Just after a promo, just before a promo, and anywhere in between

No

Def not, you just got promoted! Others will want you more

No harm interviewing- but keep in mind if you just made AP at your current firm it will be much more difficult to succeed in the new firm since you will not only face the learning curve but also rebuild the network learn the culture etc

I can defend my reasoning for a move during an interview - but i am trying to figure out how others will perceive it when they are looking at my resume for the first time.

Personally, i don’t think its an issue. If anything, people will be intrigued to know why. But my best friend thinks that it might raise suspicion ... so thought i should run it by some 🐠 .

I have also recently finished my Masters in HR Management, so I wanted to jump on here and see if anyone has any tips for landing a new role?

I am asked during this RE analyst interview to build a real estate model from scratch. My background is commercial banking and I am used to analyzing real estate deals from the lender side not the developer. The interviewer is generous I must say he’s giving me a few days to complete. However this model is for a ground up multifamily development. I have no prior experience building one. I can find models online but all very complexe to reproduce. How would you handle? Do you have model to share?

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer? I’ve never been in a position to bargain my starting salary so this is all very new to me.
