Nah, I’m good.

Did this for the first three years I practiced at a v10. Let the gunners gun.

My co workers have the same liberty and ability to say no to work

I did this at a small firm because there was not enough work. The dirty secret is that you end up sitting around all day with nothing to do and then get assigned urgent work at 4 pm.
Yes I’m salty. Going to start taking names and suggesting the work be assigned to them instead of me bc I know their plate ain’t full

I am with you OP. If it helps: means that the senior lawyers and/or clients think that you are doing a good job.
Even if it was that simple (me working an evening means you don't) it is not as if the firm wouldn't just seek out more work to fill associates' evenings.
The core of my reaction to your complaints is that other associates maintaining reasonable work and life balances aren't the issue, but you seem eager to blame them.

I did in 2020 but not 2021. But I’m trying to get back there in 2022. If we could just keep the January pace I’d be well below that.

Nawwww I bill a cool 1950 but generally have weekends to myself and I’m keeping it that way

I bill around that, that's just what the partners seem to aim for in my group. I could pick up more work from outside the group if i wanted, but I don't. I fill the rest of my time with pro Bono, nonbillables and BD. And no, of course I don't have most of my evenings to myself, work is still irregular so i work until 10 PM most nights and have a major work commitment every other weekend. Doesn't seem like it's quiet the same as some of the corporate people i talk to, but it's no cakewalk either because it's a lot of heavy lifting like brief writing. In practices like mine your billables are going to depend largely on how efficient you are. If i hit a wall, I'm going to take an hour away from my computer and not bill that time. Someone else might decide to "push through" and bill for staring at the screen while doing very little drafting.
