Soon to join EY as a data engineer and I’ve heard that the cloud/data projects are more Azure-focused. I have been studying for the AWS Solutions Architect certification for about a month or so and am wondering whether it would be worth it to continue or if I should switch over to Azure?

Not a data engineer or solution architect, but IMO you should continue going after the AWS cert. It’ll be a useful certification to have regardless and definitely worth it for when you want to hop somewhere else in the future, especially given how much of a market leader AWS is in the cloud space. Just because EY is Azure-focused doesn’t mean you should stop your AWS learning and completely focus on Azure.

I'm a cloud architect. From my perspective, AWS and GCP are better solutions for ML/AI. My issue is I keep going from one cloud to the other to the other

That being said if EY wants to an azure focused individual, do that. That's what they are paying you for and that's what the client is paying EY for.

It’s good to have multiple cloud certs. I’ve found almost every client uses more than one cloud provider, and where the data lives/which is used depends on which client department or team you are working with.

Hello, I have 4 years of experience between Financial decision support and pricing. However, I feel like my experience is too narrowed to how my current company operates. I am looking to pivot into consulting at one of the big4 ( for ~2-3 years)or any other consulting firm to have a well rounded experience that could be applicable to any industry. Any advices ?or thoughts ?

Going to be bored over holiday season and was thinking about starting up the Python Institute Certifications (probably the whole roadmap). I would say I’m at an intermediate level currently. Anyone with the certs have thoughts on worthiness / best way to study / how it helped them in their career or job search? Thanks in advance 😄

GTM moving back into consulting is a good idea in theory, but it’s like a train wreck happening in slow motion.

Sure feels like they are pushing to stand up a traditional CRE network for product sales inside of consulting … that won’t work in a service business. Some of us have seen this movie before - different theatre.

Watch how this plays out over next 6 months.

I’ve got about 20 years cross channel experience in marketing, split between big brands and startups, and I’m considering pivoting into a data science/data analyst role. I know it will initially be a step back in comp but is it at all realistic for a person with certificate level experience in data analysis but a decent marketing management background to expect $150-200k comp or is that mostly for degreed candidates (or not realistic at all)? Any guidance here is greatly appreciated.
