Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Do Nike. Great brand. I don't think doing director versus senior director is going to hold you back. Plus, the important of quality of life and location cannot be understated...
Also, I had a few client counterparts who worked at Nike and LOVED it there. They said the culture was amazing. I don't know how Walmart is internally but we all know they're horrid to vendors
Nike. Can you really bear going from consulting life to Walmart’s draconian cost controls?
How many of the people commenting have ever been to Arkansas let alone Bentonville. I am from Denver and would take Bentonville over any large east coast city for cultural reasons. In this case I might still choose Portland but when I have been to Arkansas on business I’ve really liked it.
Do you want to sell apparel or groceries? And do you want to live in Arkansas or Portland?
I interviewed at WM recently and actually came away impressed. Yes, Bentonville is not Portland but as a former southerner I can say with authority that it's not redneck and WM has some pretty smart people.
Would probably lean towards Nike though
#humblebrag
Your question disqualifies you from both
Updates OP?
Where did you disappear?
OP - are@you leaving from consultant position at MBB? Pretty impressive exit I would say. Had friends who worked at Nike though and left as they hated Portland
What kind of positions?
What’s the salary?
Definitely Nike given the similar pay I suspect title inflation at Walmart. And Portland >Bentonville
Who cares?
Nike
Ok so I live in Arkansas and I love it! It’s very quaint and if you like being outdoors there’s nothing like the Ozarks, PLUS you’ll be swimming in money. With that said, Portland is one of my favorite cities but I wouldn’t want to live there coz it rains everyday!
Nike! How is that a question.
Forgot the name, but there is 1 pretty good coffee place in Bentonville. Something to look forward to.
FYI, “director” is a common title at Nike and doesn’t necessarily mean you lead a team
Thanks folks! I’m leaning towards the Senior Director role with Walmart. They seem to have a better career trajectory than Nike - this position is 2-3years away from VP1. Pay-wise, the offers are within 280-320k total package. Wish me best of luck!!
I think they have 3 or 4 levels at VP. So you are looking at ~6-8years to SVP
Have 9years industry experience. Thought to try out Consulting after b-school but it sucks big time - they are not responsible for anything but slides and inflated numbers. Leaving voluntarily back to industry after 14months :)
