Take the bus and get a used car and pay it in cash. Half, if not more of your income is going to 2 things. Last thing you want is another obligation
Depends on what your priorities are. I personally love my car. I don't go out often and am okay putting "play money" into a car. The smile my car puts on my face is what keeps me going in PA... no lie.
I drove my crappy hand me down car from high school until it was about to die and I had enough savings to buy a small used car with cash. No monthly payments here 👌🏼 Otherwise I budget $90/mo for gas and $75/mo for insurance.
I am with EY. Had 220k miles before buying another car with cash.
There is only two kinds of Jeeps, a Wrangler and a Wrangler Unlimited. Further, if it is AT it is not a Jeep. I have a 16 Unlimited not peasant shit like a Compass.
430 on my jeep. I own though
How is it brilliant? He has nothing to show for it once his lease is up. Like paying rent on a penthouse with nothing to show for it once you leave.
^ hater. I don't care to lease - I like switching up my cars. Mazdas are great cars. Got a crossover for its utility and AWD capabilities for NYC weather. My next lease will be an Audi Q5 which I'm super stoked about
What other expenses do you have? List them all out and find what you have left. Any other debt i.e. CC? Food? Laundry? Discretionary? Savings?
$325 for Mazda CX-5 suped up/ $160 for insurance . Lease is 36 months 12k miles a year
^ This is brilliant. I don't think car payments should be more than $400/month.
You don't care to buy you mean? ^
You can lease something like a Honda Civic for 0 down, 99$/month with 12k miles.
$200/month for a lease payment on a 17 forte. $130/month for my car insurance. $40-60/month on gas depending on driving habits so I split it and bake in 50/month for gas. So about 380/month for my car. I don't include discretionary expenses in this or annual payments like oil changes.
$168 car and $100 insurance/mo.
Dang how is everyone's car insurance so high? We have full coverage on 2 vehicles, liability on two vehicles, and insure a boat and snowmobile for less than 125/month
No way I could have a 12k minimum for miles on a car. Too much travel for work!
Get rid of the loans before you buy that beemer.
@ EY 2: it's brilliant because it's a Mazda. Some cars are more than the sum of their parts.
$359 Honda accord - $5k down
