Hi Fishes, I am bit confused to pick the role in KPMG lighthouse as Sr Cloud Data architect or Saama technology as a Project lead. Money wise it is not a big difference. In KPMG I will work with partner where as in saama I will work with project/program manager. Please suggest your opinion. Saama KPMG KPMG India

Just my two cents I think it might be easier to go into advisory now and leave for industry after a couple years (exit into accounting/ext reporting manager). I’ve seen a few people come into taas from industry and it’s a difficult transition vs the other way.
Thanks for the insight, that is my biggest concern as well transitioning back into the grove of things in public. The next year in my life might be a little crazy with getting married and potentially moving so WLB is a big factor and not sure if advisory can accommodate that. Hence why I wanted to try private and further build up my foundation without working crazy hours. Thanks again!
As long as you're not too far removed (e.g. haven't been in industry for 5+ years) and are okay with coming back where you left off, I think it's not horrible
Thanks for replying. I agree, 5+ years might pigeon hole me to that specific industry at that point.

You probably don't actually know what FDD is right? It can be a good stepping stone but it is a miserable time formatting excel workbooks, being a glorified accountant, and being on call like a banker (but not getting paid anywhere near that). So it's best to do that early in your career i.e. right after 2-3 years in audit.
Going to industry and back to public for FDD is tough. Most likely you'll leave FDD very soon, after you realize it's not all that it's hyped up to be plus no WLB. Would much rather pursue a move into FP&A (in industry) or financial transformation (consulting - mostly system implementation) if you went into a senior accountant role.
Thanks for the insight, that’s pretty much my understanding of FDD. I know the WLB sucks but I’m mostly driven to it in order to strengthen my background and compensation. But next year might be a little crazy so was think of putting it on hold for a year but I can see how the transition back might be difficult.
