Thoughts on going from Tax associate to Business Analyst position (PA to consulting)? Anyone contemplate this?

I bought a house in the suburbs of Chicago at the top of the market. I ended up moving out of state in 2017 and short-selling. I am now interviewing for a VP Accounting role with the mortgage company that got shafted by the short sale. If I get the job offer, can they/will they see this on my credit report? Can they pull the offer due to this? Should I tell them before we advance further?

This isn’t really an interview question but more of an on-boarding question.
Bit of background- I left my job of 3 years in Dec 2021 for a new company. Initially, I thought the company was great but my mind quickly changed. The on-boarding process was horrible, minimal training, thrown onto enterprise project 2 weeks in, over time, and there is no process for anything. I ended up hating my job.

Fast forward to Mid March, I started applying for jobs again but I omitted this role.

M2 NYC metro area working in healthcare consulting base around $131K low for an M2 in a high COL or market? No MBA, but want to pursue in the next 2 years to pivot to working in health strategy.

Speaking to a PE firm (4B aum) about a VP portfolio ops role. What is a reasonable comp to aim for? Recruiter mentioned 280k cash (will likely go a bit higher) & additional carry (details awaited)

Hi. I’m relatively new to recruiting and my role is primarily in supporting recruiters. I’ve noticed that even when I include a specific request or call to action, that my emails receive a response less than 50% of the time. Is this lack of responsiveness indicative of company culture or more about the culture of recruiting, since they receive so many emails? Thoughts? I’ve not experienced this rate of responsiveness in any organization I’ve worked for. I am beginning to take it personally.

I'm entering my final year of law school but am going part time since I work full time as a paralegal. I have been a paralegal for more 10+ years and I want to open my own firm after I pass the bar.

I've worked at a lot of different size firms including a startup with a few attorneys and I was able to help with a lot of the ground work with getting the practice management system in place and still do some of that now at my current firm. I recently interviewed for a small strat consulting company (energy industry). I have 3 YoE and would be moving from engineering. the HR person asked me what my salary expectations were I was caught offguard and said I would expect it to be at least what I make now (around 100k). Im now worried theyll lowball me because I really shouldve asked for 120+bonus (I think this is market rate?) But they have salary bands they follow right?So if they pay consultants 140 usually would they offer me 100k?

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?
