Regardless of grade level, I teach "vosotros" to my students because including it will better prepare them for high school and college level Spanish.
30+ years teaching “vosotros” and here’s why:
1). The subject pronoun (1st perdón, 2nd person, 3rd person) chart needs vosotros to be logical for learners.
2). It is used every day in Spain, in Spanish films, Spanish literature and news.
3). I teach it in all levels via authentic resources (music and videos, especially). It exists! I also introduce voseo the same way. I do not require students to use either until level 3.
I studied in Spain, I used vosotros all the time, I do not teach it! I don't! I just teach Uds and do a quick culture lesson on vosotros. One time I had a Mexican exchange student in the room, used vosotros, and he laughed saying it sounded like I was reading from the Bible or something. Lol!
I teach it because all of my teachers in school said “you’ll never need it” and wouldn’t teach it. Got to college, professor was from Barcelona and it’s all she used. It’s good for them to know and it provides an extra challenge
I teach it but make it bonus. I dont use it either.
I teach it as well but do t require students to use it but some students chose to do so when speaking informally to a group. This usually ocurra in level 4 or AP.
Teach it, please. If those kids ever make it to a university Spanish literature class or an AP Literature class, they will be completely lost.
I teach it to many of my students from Latin and South America. If they use vos, such as vos sos they begin to understand it quickly.
