Parents are deciding between moving to WVirginia vs Virginia at retirement to be closer to us based in fairfax (ideally be at 1 hour driving distance). They currently in the mid west but WVirginia appeals to them because of low taxes, low cost of living. We are also poc so appreciate some diversity.

What are some areas you would recommend both in Va and WV? What else should they consider prior to house hunting? Dad likes to garden/farm as well so looking for homes with large backyards. Tia!

How do I transition from a Senior Executive Assistant role to Project Management? Ideally I would like to work in tech. How should I go about this? I currently work in the Real estate industry so it would be a totally new career path. The reason I want to move into tech is I feel like many of the companies I see have the same values as me (diversity & inclusion) and a good culture is so important to me.

My wife and I are moving to Boston from overseas (we’re from Italy and we’ve recently won the diversity visa green card lottery).

Trying to set family expectations and would love thoughts on 2 things. 1. How long after baby will I be ready for visitors beyond our parents? I’m thinking a few weeks. 2. Our 3 grandmothers are 1-3 hour flights away (3 diff places) and cannot travel. When will we be ready to take baby to see them? I’m thinking 4-6 months but that would also be flu/RSV season. I have never pulled the "racism" card ever in my career but do any of you feel like you constantly have to be better/more intelligent/and work harder than any of your white counterparts just to be acknowledged?
