I don’t have any meal kit recommendations but I can help you try to figure out your macros. What’s confusing for you?
Thank you!!! So I just started my research. From what I’ve gathered so far, I think I’m supposed to consume <20g of carbs each day, which is technically fine but I have to make sure that my meals have a certain % of protein and fat in order for my body to go into ketosis, right? So I can’t just shoot for low-carb foods or just high fat foods because they could cancel each other out or something like that? Plus I have to take electrolytes and I’ve seen some recommended supplements (I’d rather a more natural/whole solution). It’s just all too much. How did you start your journey?
Haha ok breathe.
First are you going keto to lose weight? If so you be concerned with 2 numbers:
Net carbs: you get there by subtracting fiber from the carb amount. So if something has 5g of carbs but 2g of fiber you’re at 5-2=3 net carbs.
Your Macros: this is the number of protein and fat you need in a day. You’ll then see how many calories you need to each day. My numbers are: 998 calories with 70g of fat, 82g of protein. Have you used a calculator to figure out your macros? All I need to do is make sure I eat 82g of protein a day. Protein is a goal, fat and carbs are limits.
You can shoot for low carb food and high fat foods so long as it fits your macros (protein goal, fat limit, and within your calorie count) AND has less than your goal of 20 net carbs a day.
Electrolytes are simple too. I put lite salt in water every day and take two magnesium pills (one in the morning, one in the evening).
I don’t use a meal kit because a piece of chicken and veggies hits my goals. Meal kits have more carbs per meal than I’m comfortable with and I don’t get near my protein goal. It’s not worth it to me.
Also r/keto is a huge help. Go and read the wiki!
D1, I am 5 2 as well with 129 pounds 😔... You mean 120 pounds is overweight ?
Remember health, how you feel and energy... more important than scale weight. As is how clothes fit vs scale. Don’t forget the electrolytes. Very important in low carb state.
I really enjoy ordering from Factor75 during weeks I’m home and too busy to cook. I also freeze them.
I second factor75. Have been ordering from them since November of last year. Good packaging, quality, and taste. Works with my busy weekday schedule as well. I reserve cooking some delicious keto meals for myself in the weekend.
