Just plan your time off. If you aren’t taking 4-5 weeks off, why would you voluntarily work in an industry to makes you work long hours for parts of the year?
Money is great and all, but you can’t buy back your youth when you are older.
I agree, but not as easy when you’re a SM running a 20m+ engagement. But alas, will try to keep training up my team so they can be relied upon.
Honestly, hardest part is getting approval from PPMD.
I think it works out. You can take long PTO before you want to quit so that evens out
GT, what does PTO being denied have to do with unlimited vs accrued? A common complaint I hear about unlimited PTO is that it actually is limited by how much gets approved.
You’re preaching to the choir buddy
The trick is to not give a fuck and actually take time off
Yes this must be the trick
The key is to take time off from working your tail off. - signed someone who worked their tail off but also forced myself to take vacation whenever I could

I take at least one 2-3 week vacation a year and have it planned well in advance. Then I also take a few days here and there. You have to prioritize yourself
I agree. It’s a scam
I have used at least as much PTO since we switched

What firms let you cash it out at the end of the year? Or are we just making things up now?
When you leave the firm, I mean
Facts 💯💯 Unlimited PTO...that doesn't even sound real!
Bro my friend in EY literally takes 2 months off my partners literally make faces anytime i want more than a week off
i love it. i take off 6-8 weeks every year
I took 45 days off this past year. Got early promoted too. Unlimited PTO is definitely worth it
I have had unlimited PTO for 10 years. 2 different companies. I dont know that it is a “scam.” However if significantly favors the company, not the employee.
Your fourth sentence is the “scam” part of unlimited PTO 🤷🏼♂️
I can’t what you’re saying. But it is the way that most offices and professional offices are moving to. I know in my profession that at certain times of the month I would be putting more than a 40 hour week. But there are other times in the month I don’t and I think the unlimited PTO is a way to bring that work life Balance that’s so many of these Companies are moving to.
Yes, you have the potential of working a lot of hours. But you also can take the responsibility of scheduling your breaks as well. I know for me I would schedule my PTO time between my time of getting reports and what not done and what not done.
I think it really depends on the culture of the team. My friend works at a tech company with unlimited PTO and his team takes like 5-6 weeks off per year
I’ve already taken 22 days this year…probably going to take 7 weeks
