Trying to help my wife make a career change into a Customer Success role at a tech company with a strong customer facing product, and career path potential.

She comes from many years of customer service, web design and management, and e-commerce experience.

She’s got a few nibbles from LinkedIn, Slack, but hoping for some feedback from those who love their job and company.

Novice investor here so please bear with me. I opened a vanguard account dec 2019 and invested around $1K..over the course of the year I invested about $68k.. I just checked the total gains and it shows about $10k. That’s about 14% gain via investment in small amounts in vgt, zoom, tsla, ark, vtsax etc..Is it fair to assume 15% gain year over year ?

I wonder how this crisis will affect childhood development. Socialization over zoom is just not how humans are made

Looking for advice on project management software or tools for HR consulting. Our firm doesn’t have anything that is standard or used at all, and while some of us are starting to venture into using Microsoft Teams, I feel like there are so many tools out there and we could be doing things way more efficiently. We work in small client teams (1-3 team members per client usually) and it’s a mix of strategy, tactical, and outsourced HR work. Any suggestions?

I’m hating my job so bad I fantasize about walking out on my boss. My work itself is enjoyable but my boss (co-founder and CEO of a Series C startup) has become such a pain it ruins my mental health and family life. Working 12-15hrs everyday, working on many weekends, yet no appropriate for my work. We are mostly remote so a lot of interactions are over Slack. Now, I could never imagine one can be so obnoxious and mean over Slack messages when talking about work. I want to run away everyday.

In a niche industry that is very stuck in old ways (not to mention small enough to where I am one of the few minorities), I am wearing my natural hair to all client and internal Zoom meetings to subtly remind everyone to be respectful and mindful of what they say. Be kind, be nice, and show empathy - I know it’s all business most times, but the smallest gestures can mean the world right now. Hats off to everyone on these bowls who are taking a second to speak up in their own ways.

I’ve slowly started drinking less and less. And the less I’m drinking the more I realize just how much of my time revolved around alcohol. From going to get it, to drinking it to fighting hangovers. Now I realize I need something to fill all that time with. Especially now that I’m not spending all day saturday and sunday deathly hungover. I go for walks and run errands…but in a shock to me…there’s still a lot of time left. How did you start spending your time once you stopped drinking?

Just wanted to say hi. Been lurking as a student for sometime now. Just got hired at a bigger agency on a booze account no less. Super excited to make cool work with great people. I’m just slightly worried how they’ll react when they eventually learn that I don’t drink. I’ve been sober for about 8.5 years now and I’m older(got sober young) but just starting in the industry. I know if I stay spiritually fit and keep on top of my program it’ll be fine. But my mind always races (Contd in post)

If it's not triggering for you, I'd love to know what drove others to pursue a sober life. For me, it was that alcohol had consumed my life, and aggravated anxiety I have. I couldn't live with it.

Where’s my sober as friends? Tough day yesterday. Bad client review made worse by internal interactions. So happy to have a program of sobriety and people to talk to, to keep my brain from fabricating it into a disaster. Back to the drawing board. Hope y’all are doing well.

I’ve got more than three years sober but really struggling with emotional sobriety lately. Coping with control issues no longer in charge just freelancing and fear of the future or lack of control. Find myself disappointed so much about the work and even a lot of the working relationships. I know I’m in a pivot and a changing environment. Every gig I’ve gotten, both FL and FT, I’ve lost due to the bottle. Literally every job I’ve had, I’ve been fired from. My resume looks like shit b/c of it. This sucks. So now I’ll go to a mtg...
