I work for a small (yet quickly scaling) tech startup that is fully remote regardless of Covid. Outside of healthcare and vacation, what benefits do others in similar companies have? Or even better, what do you expect? We are going to be hiring a lot of people while watching our dollars (limited investment dollars available) but need to make sure we are competitive. Do you have things like matching 401ks, office allowance, phone/internet stipend, etc.

How many vacation days do first year associates at PwC get? I know we accrue hours per month but don’t know how many it is

Any suggestions for a calm, quiet relaxing vacation last two weeks of December? Prefer warm over cold weather and can’t travel outside US

My colleagues and I had been notified that we would be required to work an extra weekend or after hours shift each month for the next four months. What our bosses forgot to tell us was that we would not be paid for this time. Administration is not taking pay cuts, only primary care doctors. First, we get no PPE; then, no PTO; now, no pay. I am grateful to have a job and this may not be justified, but I’m feeling bitter about this.

How’s your firm’s vacation policy/culture?

We technically get 15 days PTO, but I’ve been frustrated at (i) pressure not to take it ‘because we’re busy,’ (ii) folks glorifying not taking it - ‘I haven’t taken a day off since x!’, and (iii) pressure to do menial work (live deals obviously an exception) and join pointless checkin calls when away.

I'm in my last night of a beach vacation and I posted a nice selfie for the sunset and now I'm worried it seems tasteless in light of today's news.

How much PTO do you typically take in a year? I've only been taking about 1.5-2 weeks and I'm starting to feel burnt out, but it doesn't seem like anyone on my team takes more!

I started last October as a junior (moved over after 3 years in B4 accounting). Have worked nearly every day since then except for the occasional Sunday when I decided to blow off work I probably should have been doing.

I desperately need a vacation, but have no clue what that even looks like with Covid, WFH, and Biglaw life in general. It also feels super hard to take a break because it seems like no one in my group ever does.

Has anyone considered or pursued short term disability/FMLA as an option for anxiety/depression? Especially right now with lingering covid stress and anxiety? I am feeling so burnt out and incapable of doing work. I want to take a leave of absence but am afraid of the impact it my have on my job. I really don’t want to get fired but I really, really need a break that is longer than a vacation. I also don’t have enough financial float to take a significant amount of unpaid time. Tell me if this is selfish or not. I adore my family, but since they're doing a very lowkey Christmas situation this year, I really would rather take a weeks vacation on my own. Obviously the holidays are about spending time with those you love, but I'm tired! And I see my entire family at least once a month for a group dinner.
