I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

Currently interviewing with consulting firms (looking to exit my healthcare industry job) and have meet & greets with fellow consultants as part of an interview process. What kind of questions do you recommend asking them and/or the partner during a behavioral interview?

I don't trust EY at all. Within the last month they:
- Increased PTO
- Increased EY-paid holidays
- Offered to bank your bonus 5x
- Provided substantial raises
- Provided better PBB than recent years

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

Just a reminder that outside our bubble no-one really cares about firm prestige etc.
