Which one to choose between Optum and Tiger Analytics for Data Scientist position? Where can I expect better data science domain expertise (In my previous companies I found very less understanding of Data Science practices as team)? Heared good things about both of these. Also hearing Tiger is expanding rapidly and getting some crap projects as well in the name of data science. Could someone put light on these things?

I'm working in Tata Consultancy for last 9months. I got allocated to Deployment team in Kolkata. I'm a quick learner and it was my mistake to learn everything so quickly. I've been forced to work for 12hrs at least regularly. Also, I've been providing night support daily for production (yes!! Production is happening daily) but I'm not getting any overtime pay. My manager is not responding to my mails regarding my dues. What shall I do?? Will HR help me? I'm demotivated and I want to resign. 😞

You have to be more responsible an train yourself to start an arrive early. In nursing school we couldn't be one minute late or we were sent home. An if you were sent home more than two for tardiness you were cut from the program. Train yourself to be early even just ten to fifteen minutes early you'll find you'll have a more productive an a better day. It's jyst a life lesson is all. You'll get better🥰
What ever happened to personal responsibility? You got a warning for a reason. And, even though you say you learned your lesson, you're whining about it on social media.
You can't expect to be tardy constantly and keep a job. There's a start time for a reason.
I’m aware of that and clearly stated it was hard lesson learned. No need to convey what was already expressed.
I'm sorry that you lost your job. It took me owning my business to understand how important accountability is. Years later when I finally went back to work in corporate healthcare I was a changed employee. It sounds like this experience will help you be a much better employee in your next position.
Does anyone else come in few minutes late. And are they still working. If you feel like others get away with it and you didn’t . Then shake some leaves
This comment is ludicrous. She’s late so why can’t I be late. Typical cna mentality.
Yep. If you value your work, you show up on time or even a little early. I am a teacher who must be on time, but there was a teacher colleague who always and I mean always showed up 10 minutes late. She was non tenure too and like expected she did not make tenure and was released so that someone who got their degree and teaching license could replace her that valued rules more.
My folks always instilled in me, in time is late, early (at least 15 minutes) is on time.
Yes, the system is set to fail and unsucced. They claim they cant get people to stay longer but they have set up the system to fire good employees over stupid things. O but doctors cops and management can curse all day long and not get fired
It often comes down to the setting and context. I’m sure if I was a client in a salon, I wouldn’t want to sit there and listen to some potty mouth person bitch and moan. Know your audience! Additionally, swearing is a sign of immaturity and an inability to express oneself informatively. As for law enforcement, it’s often the culture as it is for other professions such as EMS or truck drivers.
I also have been late in the past. My very prompt sister always arrives to work 15-30 minutes before her scheduled time, eats breakfast and reads the newspaper (or electronic version thereof before she begins). That is not me. I personally cannot understand why late by a few minutes in 4 months would matter. If they need you there earlier then they should pay you extra to be there earlier. BUT people like my sister don’t aim to be ON TIME. They aim to be there early. And I should too (but I don’t). However, you will find that a proportion of this world is filled with people like my sister, who is much better off than I am:-)
You are told what you hours are when hired. What is the point of being late ?
I find it interesting that people are excusing this behavior. Unless this is an unpaid position then companies have the right to hire someone that shows up on time and terminate those that don’t.
I Never said they didn’t have the right. From your title however, I can see why you would day that because you don’t take into consideration all that those under you have to go through. I never provided full context, so you all don’t know the full story but either way, I did say in my post “lesson learned”.
They hire and fire the wrong people it all boils down to who they show favoritism that’s every job no matter the profession or the position you not going to perform 100% all the time you can only do your best as your self will allow
What’s wrong with these jobs they should be grateful that someone will come to work for them they so petty and messy
Not saying you should get away with tardiness, but I’ve worked so many places where the medical staff is late all the time, by at least 15-20 minutes.
Agree but because the medical staff is late, doesn't give an employee carte blanch. I've quit several doctors (my PCP's) because they could not manage to be on time when I was the first scheduled patient of the day. To me, tardiness shows a lack of respect for me, whether as an employee or a patient.
There are people who are naturally punctual and people who require urgency to maintain focus. The only solution is early preparation and leaving early to arrive early. Make 15 minutes early your new “late” and 30 minutes early your new “on time”. Have something to do during the early time so it seems purposeful like makeup, banking, breakfast. Now your urgency is getting there early enough to do that thing. Also it might be helpful to time yourself at completing the tasks that you do before work like dressing, showering or feeding animals. Good luck on the next one. You can do this!
Sorry you lost your job. I work for a large medical company. If we are more than 5 minutes late clocking in we get an occurrence. Because it’s such a large company they have to keep the rules in stone. 10 occurrences in a rolling 12 month period gets you fired. If you’re sick and don’t have SSL and PTO to cover it, you get an occurrence. If you’re out for 3 days or more you need a drs note. But even with that you, still get an occurrence if the leave isn’t there to cover it. I can understand to a degree but it’s also tough when they take PTO to cover a holiday that falls on a Saturday.
You might talk to the labor board in your state, I don't think taking your pto for a weekend holiday is legal.
It is plenty jobs for you out here.. this tardiness thing is weird to me if you are doing job proficiently WH
In healthcare, it’s not about whether being late caused a problem. It’s about whether you can be relied on to be there on time, every time. That’s the standard.
When you work 12 hour shifts and you havent left early in years, you shouldn;t be expected to get there early.
Own it. unbelievable "I would say 7 the most". Your behavior is self-centered and immature. You have one job- show up on time. then do your job well.
Wow. Where do you live at? I live in Houston, Texas off i10 and it was terrible getting back/forth to work and home. I put in a request to move but it didn’t happen. After Covid hit and claimed the lives of people commute was easier for all but it’s again packed on the roadways again.
Hello - I am sorry that you are going through this, being let go is a difficult transition. As many have said already, it is important to learn from the past so it does not repeat. I am hiring MAs for remote positions. If you are interested, please let me know.
I would like information as well. Please and thank you.
Continue. Sorry I accidentally hit send. You were given a warning and it improved yet you were terminated anyway. So why were you late so much?
Most companies give a grace period. Mine is 7 mins after your scheduled time. Then you’re considered late. Maybe there were other reasons why they wanted to let you go but this was the path of least resistance. You made it easy after the warning because you still came in late.
I'm sure you've learned your lesson. Responsibility. Apparently, this has been going on for a while, hope you have figured out that you obviously have to leave earlier to get there on time. I see this a lot with the MAs at my job. Sometimes it seems like a big joke to them, until they are terminated.
