What are some amazing career advice that still hold true and more people should know about it?

Is our industry as competitive as some say? I see a lot of people saying this and I work with a bunch of hacks (myself included). It felt like a little while ago agencies were begging to hire new talent, and most couldn’t find new people. Is it really that hard to get a job at an agency? Maybe I’m just out of touch being in this career for so long.

Does anyone have any career insight for a tax associate in corp dev? Is it as lucrative as regular corp dev? What do you do on a day-to-day basis?

Did anyone here have a professor or mentor that changed their life and got them into this industry?

If the ultimate goal is to move in pharma/biotech (bd / strategy type role), does prestige of consulting firm matter? Or would it be better to work for less known firm that may have more client facing opportunities?

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. After slowly climbing the ladders, I feel like I finally got a seat at the table. Half the days I like the hustle, but now I miss being creative. I was recently in discussion with the HR for an offer that was made (verbal only) to me where I had to give confirmation on a taxation scheme. After giving the confirmation they assumed (mentioned this when the shared the TC breakup) I had accepted the offer. Then I sent an email saying I am declining it as I have another offer which is more aligned for me.
