I am a strategy consulting enthusiast from a middle class family. Don't have the financial stability to take a loan for an MBA and hence had to drop some renouned admits this year ( Think top IIM's) due to family circumstances. I still dream big and request you to provide some insights for my research:-
1) Average expected package of an associate
2) Average experience expected at ZS to get hired at associate level
3) Good books to upskill and ace the consulting case interviews

Hi, I am going through a few books on consulting and one thing which seems to be given a lot of importance is market sizing. What is the importance of this? It seems to me that unless it is a new product; existing competitors, long term contracts, monopolies etc would make this result unreliable at best and misleading. If all the top consulting firms made anonymous decks or gave anonymous pitches to a client, eg no branding and the client did not know which firm made which deck, do you actually think that the client would prefer MBB?  Is MBB actually coming up with better/more innovative solutions? I feel like I see many repeat or slightly altered solutions on almost all of my cases, are these really things that people at Deloitte/Accenture etc aren’t coming up with?

A friend of mine got an offer for a consultant role in Advisory, Product Operations and Procurement team and has read some horrible reviews on Quora. He is currently working with Accenture.

Also, for the compensation, the offer letter only has Basic Salary and Flexi Compensation, there in no variable component mentioned, is that always the case?

I got laid off with no warning. Reason given was my utilization was low at 81.8%. No performance problems. Would it be inappropriate for me to apply back to PwC to the teams I discussed rolling onto?
