What are your biggest ADHD pet peeves? I'll go first:

1.) People who are going too slow on a task that can easily be done quickly. For me that's like having your sweater's wrist sleeve in water.🤢

2 ) When I walk into a room and forget why I went in there, or going to someone to tell them important info but forget. That boils my blood for a sec.😡

3.) When I put something down and say "I'll remember it's there." And I don't. Right there that feels like a war crime itself.😫😭

1) When I know someone's lying and I can prove it.
2) Seeing something that can be done better and I can't do a damn thing about it.
3) Five people trying to get my attention at the same time. (e.g., I'm talking with a co-worker and all at the same time someone is messaging me, calling me, and hovering at my door for my attention)
4) People that talk around my work area very loudly making it impossible to concentrate.
5) Engineering professionals who have never seen Office Space

I'm like, old. So I've trained myself to wear concealable ear buds and keep a playlist or interesting audiobook on high volume for those occasions. But yeah, they thought I was crazy for a while

Hey you might sympathize with this one. One workplace there was this lady who worked the phones all day in three languages: French (which I am totally fluent since high school), Spanish (know enough to make trouble in East LA, and Miami), and Italian (was in the process of learning to speak courtesy of my girlfriend's family at the time).

She was so loud that no headphones I could afford were enough to drown her out. I spent all day trying to keep myself from eavesdropping so I could better learn all three languages ... This, my friend, was what convinced my shrink at the time that I was ADHD beyond a reasonable doubt.

When I lose something I go insane

I don't remember where I put things necessarily, I remember what the area looks like when I put it down( usually 2 days later) and so I HATE when people move my stuff. Because then I don't even remember what I was supposed to do with it or that it even exists

Any tips for organizing a bedroom, closet, dresser & bathroom? My teen has IADHD, and low executive functioning. Her room looks like a land mine. Clean clothes are mixed in with dirty, her desk is a disaster, she won’t let go of clothes she’s outgrown, drawers are open with clothes hanging out. A therapist said to close her door if we don’t want to see it but it’s more than that. She needs this important life skill & I don’t know how to help. Easier to organize w/o her but that’s not a solution.

It’s looking like my job is gonna start asking us to return to the office. We have an open office plan and before we wfh FT I would save all my work for my telework days bc I can’t get shit done in the office. I’m having major anxiety about them making this decision. I know I’m not alone that people don’t want to return to the office. My ADHD and the open office just makes working from the office a nightmare and I’m feeling really nervous and kind of resentful.

I have tried absolutely everything I can think of to limit distractions during the work day and none of it has worked. Working from home has only made it 100 times worse because now I know there are other more interesting things to be distracted by all around me. What do you do to hold focus during working hours? What will get me to be able to work for longer than 35 minutes without getting distracted?

Has anyone else tried Strattera, had success, and a few months later felt like work was a struggle again? Am I imagining it? There are reasons why I should not take stimulants, but I miss that feeling of being a “regular” person at work and so am curious if others have had a similar journey and where you all ended up

Just here to say I’m so thankful we have this safe space. People who aren’t diagnosed generally have misconceptions about ADHD and its symptoms, and I’m so grateful we have this bowl to seek help, learn from one another, and sometimes just vent! What types of work accommodations can help people with ADHD? I am starting to believe 35+ of having not managed my ADHD has really negatively impacted me in career growth etc. I'm realizing a lot of things about myself are because of the ADHD. I want better for myself and family but 1. I don't enjoy the same things forever 2. Imposter syndrome and RSD make me believe it's acceptable to start over in new places at low salaries. 3. Typical college won't work for me. 4. I also can't relocate.

My boss assigns projects with unclear expectations and provides no guidance on how to achieve them.

I've asked for help, and, to avoid a long post, she expects me to figure it out. Perhaps you go through this too, but when I don't have a clear guide on completing big projects, it paralyzes me because I don't know where to start. On top of that, I have anxiety, so "it has to be perfect".

How do you approach projects when your boss plays the "guess what's in my head" game?

I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 12. My family did not opt to put me on medication. I illegally discovered Adderall in college. Worked incredible. Got diagnosed after college & after having been fired from my first job. Passed the CPA exams on Adderall. Went off of it again. I do everything well at my job except for attention to detail within my excel files & emails. Will taking ADHD medication really fix this? Does anyone else have this issue and was it resolved by taking medication?

Anyone a manager? I’m recently diagnosed (26F) and I can’t help but beat myself up everytime I fall short of my to do list. Makes me feel like a huge disservice to my team. I’ve been trying vitamin D and working out, but it makes my “highs” and “low” SO extreme. The simplest things are so complex in my mind.

If anyone feels similar, how do you manage these feelings? I’m personally considering switching to an individual contributor role, but can’t help but feel like a disappointment if I do.
