I did 2.5yrs in internal audit (non-SOX) and did less than 15 hrs/week of real work. Went back to PA because it was too boring, but looks a lot better now

Construction. It’s bulky more than anything and little oversight most places once you can be trusted not to hurt yourself with the WIP schedule. Work slow so you don’t get overloaded. Bonus points you can tell your clients to [insert favorite vulgarity]once in a while and everyone thinks you are some technical wizard.
Huge caveat that you must be conservative or be able to pretend such.
Internal audit non Sox. Plenty of opportunity with great work life balance.

Why would you want to work in a slow paced accounting job? It is always more enjoyable to be busy but not overwhelmed.
If you are worried about your own personal time I presume you don’t have kids?
In that case, trust me, you can get out now and afford a pay cut. It’s much harder to do with dependents!
