Where should I go for dinner?
Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Analyst / entry level (exception for investment banking)
This is wrong.

In all seriousness
It covers senior consultant to senior manager, it’s a VERY wide range for people 3 years out of school to 10+ years of experience
The VP title in financial services tends to be overused. What would be a mid level manager or project manager in some companies is often a VP title in FS. You really have to look at it case by case, imo.
VP is a customer facing "corporate" title, then we have functional titles behind that. I'm actually a "Business Strategy & Initiative Manager" in my role, but that's still insanely vague. Not much different from any "Consultant" or "Manager" title though
Manager
It can mean a ton. I'm a VP w/ 9 yoe & no name mba, but have had VP teammates w/ 5-15+ yoe. It's case by case, driven by the work you're doing, tenure or background. I probably won't make SVP for 3-4 more years because I need to find a full workstream to lead. Comp is good though.
Senior Consultant
The posts here are accurate. VPs with low experience will come in as Managers ehile the ones in the upper tier of experience can come in as SMs.
I don't agree though that VPs are equivalent to SCs. Post-MBA, people go in as AVPs which is the equivalent to SCs.

Manager
Tbh,depends on the pay scale ,department etc..for example a VP change manager on the ops side for a leading broker dealer May draw a salary of 140 to 170k..this range maps to a SC on the consulting side...
EY S& SA1 is like 140ish and SA3 170ish, which is significantly above normal b4, but roughly in line with other strategy shops
Varies. VP at some banks is Senior Analyst/Consultant level (3 years experience) (example: Citi) where other banks it’s Sr Manager level (10-15 years experience... example BAC, CIBC)
Yeah an analyst working with me (3 years) got hired at Citi as a VP
Yoe is morning meaningful than title in banking world. VP could be a manager or senior manager
On the investment banking side, I've typically seen VP as the senior manager equivalent (5-6 YOE, sometimes with an MBA in there too). That said, a VP at a bank makes a lot more than a consulting SM... TC is about $500K in a mediocre year (i.e., average bonus)
