It’s soul destroying if you’re a creative. I wish I hadn’t made the jump from advertising. I’m speaking purely to the NYC office. Not sure if it’s as bad in other cities.
Stay away, I’ve never worked anywhere worse (Chicago office)
Edelman Chicago is toxic AF. Creatives (and all human persons) beware! Truly a soul-sucking, who-slipped-the-crazy-pills-in-the-generic-cheeseballs “culture.” Never have I ever been subjected to so much insane/ inane lingo and straight-up nonsense. A typical client call is like a Trump press conference.
If you’re an advertising creative who only wants to do advertising work, run in the other direction. If you want to reimagine what creative can do, then Edelman may be the place for you. NY does great work for blue-chip clients. Leaders are (almost uniformly) uniformly approachable and ego-free.
I’m happy and feel like I have a life outside of work. We have some unique benefits that show it’s a family owned company that cares about its people and its impact on society. Otherwise PTO is pretty good and so are health benefits.
Varies by office. There a backwards definition of account here and a lot of micromanaging/over involvement from senior leadership.Benefits aren’t great. Happy to talk more about it.
Former Edelman here. The “everyone is an AE” statement originally made by Dan Edelman has gotten diluted. Original intent was to remind staff everyone should stay close to client service, that no matter how senior you get you still have your finger on pulse of what a client needs. It seems it’s become shorthand for “senior people micromanaging” which certainly may be true in some offices, but again—not the phrase’s original intent.
Totally depends on office, group and role. Where do you want to be? We’ll give you the full scoop!
Very much varies by office, practice, team, etc. Benefits were good not amazing.
What city and practice are you interested in?
New York
