A pitch, that in the morning management had been told we were already out of the race for.
A birthday present for a CEO of one of the clients we work for.
That reminds me of the designers who got roped into designing the resume for a former client. The account team wanted to maintain the relationship.
I’ve literally never worked an all nighter and had it be worth it.
I once was freelancing on on a pitch and my wife went into labor. The agency had to send an intern to the hospital at 4am to get my laptop.
Then They called me relentlessly the next day telling me that I had to take full time or they would end my contract. I got like 10 voicemails asking where I was and if I wanted to go full time, I had to get back to them immediately. I respectfully asked everyone to chill out and took the job. Which turned out exactly as you’d expect.
All nighters are a sign of bad time management- get your sleep!
This. Don’t do that shit.
After literally sleeping in the office awaiting feedback on a pitch I then had to spend 12hrs designing the CCO’s kids hockey promotional material. I was in the office 36 straight hours. This was in Chicago
Was this a cco at Havas by chance?
A client pitch video that the CCO decided to scrap the day before delivery, mind you this is after a week of working on it. Basically turned into a twelve hour overnight edit with me, the editor, and this CCO recreating this entire minute long video over night. The most annoying part is that their instincts were totally right and we won the pitch — I didn’t stay at the agency too much longer
We had a meeting at 5 PM on a Thursday to present some ideas and a new department head was in the meeting unexpectedly. And this department head made an effort to embarrass our client contact and us by demanding something that required an entirely new concept to be developed. A political power move. And because of the deadlines, the only time we could meet was the next morning at 8 AM. The account lead said “well that’s it, we’re fired.” I said “no, we’re not.” I pulled a small team together and we worked through the night and developed two more campaigns. Went back to my apartment to shower and change and got to the client at 7:55 AM. Ultimately the client ended up buying one of the ideas we had presented the night before, slightly modified. The department head’s ego was satisfied. Our direct client saved face. We held onto the account. I got a nice wad of cash in an envelope the next day. As a thank you.
They were also rewarded well.
Samsung. Pulled late one with the team to about 1am so that we could get some sleep before being back in the office at 9am. Sent it off to the global CCO thinking ‘he’ll have it for the morning ahead of time’. Instead, his PA emailed to say he was available and ready to speak, and we spent the next few hours until 4.30am going through shit line by line.
Lost the pitch to W+K, work never got made anyway.
TLDR Fuck Samsung 😂

Literally a personal injury law firm my agency was pitching. They ended up pulling the entire pitch/campaign. lol
