Recent lateral junior associate in brand new practice where I'm the only associate. I'm probably going to bill 1,500 hours max this year due to being very slow and taking time off for a delayed honeymoon which I disclosed during my interview process. I have been told my work product is good, I don't turn anything down, I participate in non-billable work, I'm responsive and I always let people know I'm available to help. Do I need to be worried about getting fired for low hours?

My temp contract has been extended. I’m relieved to be able to pay the bills, but after giving 70-80 shots a day, I literally dream about giving vaccines almost every night! Struggling to keep positive about finding a new permanent job - I was laid off at the end of April, have applied to over 60 jobs, had 6 interviews, and no offers. I can’t go back to chain retail - it damn near broke me in my 20’s, and it’s much worse now.

Does Globant terminates the employment of certain trainees after their probation(3 Months) based on their performance in the training period? Some of the fresher trainees were laid off this morning without giving a notice or reason.

We were told that the probation period is a training period & not an elimination one. It was shocking as a few of those trainees were actually good.

In our 121 last we had a good discussion on creating a personal development plan, with the idea being I’d write down clear goals & action points to get from my current level to the next, and I’d provide weekly evidence of it. I prepped the doc accordingly, but instead of wanting to discuss it, he said I have 4 weeks to “turn things around” - without giving any new info on what I’ve done wrong - esp given I wrote my goals based on this same feedback from last week??

Went from a big firm to work for a smaller firm. The people in the smaller firm are protective of their work and are good by their work too. I no longer feel chaos or stress. I am treated with respect and my schedule is more normal. I am even working more billable hours than before, but it feels like a seamless experience. I don’t work then past 5pm or anything out of the ordinary for this time of the year. I am so grateful!

People that have small children - how do you deal with your child’s stress and separation anxiety when you go to work? My 4-year old goes berserk almost every day at some point relating to me having to work. The worst part is that I’ve been working from home bc of Covid and I’m literally just walking upstairs after giving hugs and kisses and saying see you soon 800 times. I interviewed for KPMG on 11/15 for a Senior role and the HR emailed me on 11/16 that everyone liked me but they think I should be hired as an Experienced Associate. I had a call with the HR on 11/17 wherein we discussed about my salary expectations and the HR said he will get back in a day. It’s been more than 10 days and multiple follow ups but still no response. I don’t think I was rude while talking to the HR, I just told my current salary and asked for min. that no. Why do leaders keep comparing how “good”the new staff/seniors have it because they make more money starting out then they did and working 55 hours is better than the 70-80 hours they used to work? Instead they should compare what options they have available to them and what their goals are.
