Hello - I would suggest taking some online courses for Microsoft Office & Excel. There are free courses available. Good Luck!🍀
I just did this, actually. I have a lot of customer facing experience in various environments. From working in retail front and back end to customer service/support.
I would say put an emphasis on verbal and written communication, organization skills, project coordination, and ability to work cross functionally. All of these are transferable skills.
You will be expected to be a “swiss army knife” in a sense - like many other positions ;)
Swiss Army knife 😂
So true..
You can also start as an Office Assistant and learn the ropes. Once you have some experience, apply for any open AA positions at the current company. Once you have been in the role officially a year or 2, apply at another company for more money.
Online course are very helpful, getting familiar and efficient with Google suite, Excel spreadsheets (super helpful to learn and lots of online courses) typing, customer service/support, meeting minutes etc.
if you’re wanting to expand your role learning some accounting programs will help you broaden your skill set and help you standout of basic Administrative roles especially with smaller companies. Quickbooks is one I highly recommend as it’s used often. Good luck!
Recommended taking trainings on different platforms. Google Drive, gmail, GCal, Microsoft outlook, excel, zoom, slack to name a few.
