For me; E30 M3, fifth gen F-series, maybe an old Land Cruiser
The M3 because you can hit redline and not really break any laws—newer are so fast tapping the throttle you’re looking at jail time
The F truck would be dope for the once a year I need to get a piece of wood or when I go deer hunting to toss in the back
Land Cruiser would be fun to take camping and do some wheeling
A previous gen raptor might be cool with the v8
American Muscle baby, I’d try to find a 1967 Pontiac GTO, with 60k you can find one in really good condition I’m sure. If not I’d get a Porsche speedster replica of course and you will still have money left over or a mercury Lead sled, I’ve seen some in that range.
To be honest I think a few fit the bill.
- F87 M2 competition/f80 M3 (fun to drive but sounds awful)
- w205 c63s - great bang for buck and awesome all around car
- b9 RS5 (great for the $$ but a little numb/dull vs above)
- Shelby gt350 ( best drivers car)
- c7 corvette
Don’t touch it IMO.
Older and unreliable. Newer AMGs are much better.
SL55 is also ugly to me personally, I would get an AMG GT. It’s a MUCH better car than the old SL55.
But $25k is a new ballpark lol.
Get a cayman
A1, how much of a pain was it to own a DB9? You can get a good DB9 with 30k miles for mid $40s, and furthermore lots of my other research has shown that well kept ones are reliable.
Far too vague in the question, what do you like? For 60k, it'll be hard to beat a used boxster or cayman though
Clarified above. That’s true, for $25k you can get a Cayman and daily it
RS3 daily, Cayman weekend
I’d consider just getting an RS3
1958 Buick convertible
Like in Rain Man!
Miata
Always!
You’d have to find a clean one but a GD chassis Subaru STi. Now that I have one I actually don’t know how to get rid of it. Nothing else has a full time AWD system and makes 300hp++++ (depending on tune) besides a GTR which is way more expensive. You can find CLEAN STIs for $30k, and if I could do it again I would find the cleanest one in the country and spend up to $60k in it. No nannies to turn off, they don’t even come on the car. The STi 6spd is super solid. The AWD system is super solid (I rally race so this is probably more exciting to me than most - but also being able to just put the power fully down and not worry about spinning out is fantastic). The engines, well hit or miss. They’re actually relatively easy to work on but every 150k-200k mi you’ll need to pull the engine out for some reason (head gaskets are the most memed). But if you just take really good care of it, there’s really nothing on the road that can compete, Porsches suggested above included. The steering and pedal inputs are very tactile and engaging, I went to test drive Miatas after owning my STI for a bit - bc everyone says Miatas are the best cars in the world - and there’s no way I would give up my STI to be crammed like a tuna (I’m only 5’10) inside a painfully slow car with surprisingly not good clutch feel and ok shifter feel.
Believe me, I never thought I’d end up here being an STI fanboy. I’ve been trying to get rid of this car for the last year only to find out there is literally nothing else except maybe an r34 GTR that could replace it. Not even the new WRXs (bc there is no STI) can match the GD chassis. You just gotta deal with the maintenance cost bc it actually is the best car under $60k if your sole purpose is gettin after it.
Ah ok just saw the comment about having an auto. And unfortunately that is the one thing you will def not get from an STI. I have 2 manual cars I commute thru traffic with and I wouldn’t make it a deal breaker for myself, but dawg I also super duper get where you’re coming from.
Talking out of my ass bc idk the prices on these but Alfa Romeo 4C or a Lotus as others to consider. Lotus have Toyota engines so that could be a good choice
Check UNIQUE CLASSIC CARS out of Mankato, Minnesota. Anything they have that is 20yrs old is eligible for a 200000mi warranty at least that's what I've read. I'd go back out there just it's like a 2+hr trip 1 way.
200k warranty? That's extremely long, are you sure? I'm based in Seattle so not close but I'll google
