None are perfect, just go all in on the best airline in your hometown. Get a credit card that’s associated with the airline you choose and only buy flights on that airline.
Atlanta or nyc - Delta
Dallas - American or Southwest
Houston or Chicago - United or Southwest
LA - Delta, American, or United
Personally, I’m a huge fan of delta, I think they have the best customer service and nicest planes. But I live in a hub so it’s easy to be loyal to them.
I go with Delta. I don't know what the best is but I'm loyal to Delta. They've always been good to me.

Look for a credit card with flexible currency, as in points that you can transfer to airline and hotel partners. That way, you're not stuck to one ecosystem. Chase, Capital One and AMEX are the big three with Chase being the most accessible. Check out 10xTravel. With the points I accumulated, I was able to use them for ~20 days of hotel stays during a trip to Asia + a round trip flight to Tokyo.
