Find a mentor early on. You will likely need someone who you can rely on to make difficult ethical and personal decisions. So find a trusted mentor (either in your org or from your uni) who can guide you through the first years of your finance career
Don't. Just kidding. I'd say do your research and figure out what areas interest you. Finance is such a big field with so many options, but many people just jump right in without knowing what they're getting into, and then end up miserable. Know yourself, know the role, and THEN get the skills/apply.
Be open to different roles. I started out so stubborn and refused to do projects or skills that ultimately had a funny way of circling back around later on.
I recommend taking the SIE test or at least starting to looking at the material for it. It doesn't need a sponsor and will teach you the fundamentals of finance. Plus, employers would welcome such an initiative.
Be a sponge. Everyone you come in contact with has something to offer you even the pretentious people that will get on your nerves
