Anyone recently received a tax manager offer from EY ? I’m going through final interviews and want to see what your experience was like (negotiation process, initial offer higher/lower than expected?, did you give them a salary expectation range? How long did it take from final interview to offer etc) TIA!PwC EY KPMG Deloitte

My wife worked at GT and she hated it. She went back to big4.
Coach
The issue my wife had was with certain partners with unreasonable expectations which did not make sense. She was a top performer at the big4 where she was before GT and she is a top performer and the big4 where she is now. The issue with a smaller environment, there are only a handful of partners and the gossip run wild making very difficult to recover if one partner has a bad impression of you.
In my market, I worked with some people who came from GT and they brought the GT culture with them making the people under them miserable and I was one of them. These GT people did not last long at EY because of the cultural differences and maybe because of the technology.
I would not go to any of the second tier firms in my market, I would perhaps try the third tiers or regional firms if the opportunity is right.
This is my opinion based on my experience and that may nit be the case in other cities.
Probably depends on office. I enjoy it and I get a wider variety of clients and experiences than I did when I was at Big 4.
I don’t miss anything. I left at a manager level so I was a bit beyond prep but it seems our MPack is very similar to the Analyze Workbook I was used to at EY. And we use OTP for provision which is a hell of a lot better than the excel world I was seeing before.
Work life balance is a lot what you make it. I have kids and a dog and a husband and they come first. I’m very vocal about my schedule which is important. You have to communicate with teams on availability. I have not worked an 80 hour week and very few 60 even. But that may also be because my time has been at a manager or above level.
GT is great. Some offices are better than others but on the whole it’s a better work/life balance and lots of interesting work. No more compliance than big 4 unless that’s what you WANT to do.
Is the comp and raises comparable? I’ve heard GT tends to be lower
